All over the world, lets not kid ourselves, we the black folk are considered "second class" to others almost everyone. Yet all over Africa and Nigeria, we have verifiable historical evidence of our very very early history and the fact that we have been an educated and intelligent people from the dawn of time. We need to remind ourselves about our history and culture and further remind ourselves that no one else is superior to us in any form or fashion and we need to wake up as a collective and embrace our rich culture and history. I plan to regularly come back to this post to add more of our history and culture so we might all educate ourselves, but most importantly, we also need the various governments in Nigeria as well as philanthropists to ensure these historical and cultural artifacts and locations are saved from decay, and experts must be brought in as needed to restore some of these historical artifacts. All over the world, historical preservationists work on historical and cultural landmarks to ensure they stand the test of time. We must do the same and do a much better job at what we are doing now. We should share as much of our culture as we know and hopefully we can share information on our culture by Nigerians as well. How about we start here:
The Nok culture is an early Iron Age population whose material remains are named after the Ham village of Nok in Kaduna State of Nigeria, where their terracotta sculptures were first discovered in 1928. The Nok Culture appeared in northern Nigeria around 1500 BC[1] and vanished under unknown circumstances around 500 AD, having lasted approximately 2,000 years.[2]
What happen to the Nok Culture? Do you know? I don't and that is really SAD that it appears we don't have archaeologists, anthropologists and historians who are working FURIOUSLY to trace the history and what happened to this advanced culture. Did they really dissapear? Who are the Nok today? Questions that really need answers!
