For those who are not aware, Kaduna has always been the "melting pot" of the north, it has significant populations and from several ethnic groups in Nigeria. Unlike most other northern states that are predominately Muslim, Kaduna, largely due to what is known as "Southern Kaduna" (they were once called "Southern Zaria" even though geographically they are located quite far from Zaria in the southern part of the state) is not, especially after the creation of Katsina State making the "current" Kaduna state more evenly balanced when it comes to religion.
Southern Kaduna has always been predominately Christian and that has always caused problems in the state. The state once had a very healthy relationship between the South and the North. Several Nigerians from other parts of the County were born and raised in Kaduna due to its being a melting pot. Today it appears things are changing.
